Measure input and output voltage. it should have 5v output voltage. Try to lift from pcb littlebit. I had similar problem, and problem was bad pcb design.

Max232 was getting hotter with the regulator too. Now change regulator and max232 it seems ok now, no hot units but pc still not found programmer. I read something about serial cable problem. I tried with standard cable where pin 1 go to pin 1 and so on. Should I use another pinout?

is the 4J74Y exchangeable with 2J74Y? Becuase I have 2J74Y what can be programable flash/eprom with ETL. 4J74Y flash cannot program with ETL. Maybe MCU is faulty....

I finally got ETL 908 Clone and I have problem with 4J74Y too. Programmer can't read it. With other masks everything is fine. maybe its a hardware problem? maybe faulty resistor or condensator?

Hey guys so I bought exactly same ETL programmer and now I get same error on both programmers:

"Reset line must be in high state"

    Both programmers say this.

on two same chips(2J74Y and 4J74Y) other chips are read perfectly.

    tried on other PCs.

    tried with different cables.

    any solution?
