Default A n00bs guide to F5S first time start up

    Hi guys,

I have just taken receipt of the F5S and haven't the faintest idea what I am doing... Hopefully your warm welcomes can extend to helping me. I've just started to learn about this tonight so, maybe I've done fairly well in the 4 hours I have been searching, but not well enough. Any direction from the forum would be much appreciated.

    Step one: read..

    Step two: re read ..

Step three: ..take time to find the one about C/S talk ...

    Cheers guys

Forum rules forbid us to discuss decoding of $ channels.

When you install AJ's list, it should list all of the channels on the list & you should be able to view all of the FTA channels.

I don't understand how you can view any channels at all if the front panel displays "noch", as that means that there are no channels in your channel list.

Interesting. Thanks for the reply. What exactly is c/s talk and where would you suggest I find out about it thanks

If you could direct me to the basics of what I need i.e. firmware (think I have that covered), types of cline/nline etc what types there are (hypothetically) and how the channel list and if there is any relationship between the two.

Just in reply to you noch comment there was a few channels channels before I performed the last step.

    Thank you for your help

    c/s = card sharing, it's how a f5s obtains encrypted channels illegally.
Firmware = box operating software, unless broken leave it alone. Available from skybox.cc if needed.
Channel list = a software update to program all channel freqencies /favourites to the box, saving the user a manual scan/edit every couple of weeks when frequencies change. Available from the red stickies at the top of the forum either aj's or sattv5's both do the same thing just list the channels in a different order.
