    Default DK v1 image problem

    Hi all

    Got a strange one here! Ive an eagle and a dream clone and when i upload the DK image to both boxes the boxes go into a reboot cycle after flashing if I put the DW image they both bootup tried to reflash 3 times and re downloaded the image but the same thing happens!

    Any help would be great!!

    Have you tried doing a flash erase before flashing it?,, ,and then proceed to flash
    boom!

    Hi Satman

    Actually no i havent it just seem strange that its only this image thats affected DW and others are fine!

    Does Flash erase not kill the bootloader?

    no,, use dreamup and do a flash-erase first( conect up by serial and connect and click flash erase),,,,,,,,
    then try and reflash it,,,


    and no, your flash erase aint nothing to do with bootloader that aint part of the flash memory
    boom!

    Oh no guess what!!
    3:18:36 PM box type: DM500
    3:18:49 PM Ping result: OK, box is alive and speaking to us ;-)
    3:18:55 PM erasing complete flash (without bmon stage of course)...
    3:19:05 PM ERROR, flash-erase failed, box will be unusable now!!

    What do i do now

    strange .. can u connect to ftp programe when its working on dw . if u can l send an image u can install in tmp folder and u can do a manual update

    turn off the box and the plug send your firmware over and then turn on at the plug again ,

    Ive sorted it i think!!!

    I started from scratch again!!

    Erased flash as Satman advised

    Sent image over to box

    Seems to be working now

    If you have any problems with dreamup or images, do a flash erase TWICE (I know sounds silly but works) then download the firmware from the dream multimedia site and flash that. Once you have a working base, you can flash whatever image you want.

    There are also many different versions of dreamup, the dream multimedia site only shows the latest but a google search usually gets you a few older versions which can sometimes help.

    my guess is the image file is/was still rared/zipped when you tried to flash
    dreamup will flash the file but it will not work

    Is that goos advice with all the clone boxes about. Does the latest Dream image not screw up the boot loader of clones?

    I can't help thinking that new versions of DreamUp might be used to remove the boot loader from clone boxes as well soon. It might be a good idea to stick with a version from before the clone bombs started.
