Really stuck trying to install v142, got the ususal "not a clip platform" message. Have run and re-run the patch, but to avail, and downloaded a couple from here. Im not sure if its because of language settings etc, its on windows 8 and to be honest im not great with 8! can only find one place in control panel to change language, region etc. Am I missing something?

Your Windows 8 need to be on 32bits only

You're absolutely right! My diagbox is now back to its normal reliable self being on the virtual XP now as well.
