Default 1 dish 2 boxes via a splitter

Is it possible to run 2 boxes off 1 cable via a 2 way Splitter for split TV signal from aerial + 3 F connector

    I've seen this Item Number: - 181507680642

    What would happen I did

no all satboxes need their own feed from lnb on sat dish.you can get connectors [ name unknown ] to allow aerial feed on house roof to combine sat feed to run through one cable and the same connector at other end to split signal back to sat and aerial.

If you use that splitter, you will only be able to have 1 box on a time.

If you tried using both boxes at once, then you would not be able to view a lot of channels, as each box sends signals to the LNB that control horizontal/vertical polarisation & hi band/low band switching.

you would need to get a new "LNB" with more connector points off your dish easiest way bud but as the others have said you would only be able to use 1 box at a time as the signal would be all over the shop and too weak as each box needs its own direct feed at all times

It should work OK, as long as you turn off 1 box before turning on the other box...just to be on the safe side.

Also the splitter you linked to, doesn't say that there is a DC passthrough on either of the outputs. You need the DC passthrough to control the LNB.

This one looks more suitable (although it doesn't have the F plugs with it):-

...or you can get them in pound shops.

My 2 boxes are on the same tv so 1 will be on standby and maybe recording while I use the other

Do I set it up like this

2 wires coming in the house

    1 goes to f5 box
    1 goes into recording box

Loop wire from f5box into other box

that means 2 boxes working at once as you need a feed to view and a feed to record and as i said before get another feed in.

    It will have 2 feeds

    1 for recording
1 for which ever box I'm watching - with the recording box connected via the loop output (and of course the original recording input

you need a separate feed for each box if its a dual tuner ie record able box you need two feeds you can not split or loop sat feed you need one for each or two for recording

From your original post, I assumed you had 2 skyboxes/Openboxes that you wanted to run from 1 feed.

When you say "the recording box", do you mean a $ly+ box?

As mentioned above, you cannot run both boxes at the same time using the splitter or loop. If it is a $ly+ box that you have, then whether it's in standby or recording, the LNB circuits are still active, so will interfere with the skybox/openbox.

You could put the $ly+ box in single feed mode & do away with the Dish2 input altogether, but you would only be able to record the channel you are tuned to.

yes you can recording box ie s/y box loop to another box f5 and another box cannot be used together on the same lnb port
