    whats confusing me is if the voltages are that low how is the lnb getting enough power for vertical channels, 2-3v is a big difference I would of thought

    LNB's have a voltage regulator in them (either 8 or 9 volts usually) so the voltage you are getting from the box is still enough to power the electronics.
