The V8S works absolutely fine - just the same as all others V5S, F5S etc. Ive had no problems with channel updates via usb etc etc. User error is likely to be to blame for any problems. Also all channels inc. documentary work fine again if yours don't I think the problem is with the other thing not the box.

"but as the v8s upscales hd the sd channels are just as good!!" - this is a rubbish and misleading comment SD channels look no different to what they do on my F3S, upscaling doesn't work ever on anything let alone a cheap box like this...... If you think you have a DVD player upscaling to HD think again.

    According to Yojiatech:-

FIX BUG: " Dump By USB" file can not " Upgrade By USB" other V8 receiver, will show" Upgrade data too large, failed"
When upgraded with this new software, problem solved.
This does not work. I tried it yesterday and it absolutely does not work. I cannot restore the image I made of my box before putting in the latest firmware as I didn't like the changes the new firmware made.
Unfortunately when I tried to restore my box with my image I was given the " Upgrade data too large, failed" message and as the bug fix didn't work I am now stuck with it. Any suggestions?

Would restoring y box to factory reset the firmware to the factory also? If so would my original image then restore my system?

Got the latest firmware, it changed the logo, the way some of the buttons work, horrible to be honest. I want to restore mine to how it was when I got it but this idiotic version won't let me do it and the so called bug fix fixed nothing.

I don't have a V8s myself, so can you give examples of which buttons are working differently?

Well the main one that annoyed me (I use the remote from the old V5s as it has way ,ore functions than the new one which makes me use the micro-panel for everything) is the one that was a simple press of the back (return?) button to get out of looking at a specific program information dialogue. Now I have to press the red button. I am sure that the firmware is good but not being able to restore my original image is really bugging me big time as I really want to put it back. The FIX BUG: " Dump By USB" file can not " Upgrade By USB" fix that was supposed to resolve the issue did nothing so now I'm stuck with the new firmware and I hate it.

The other thing I absolutely hate is that when setting up a recording I used to be able to simply alter dates, times, and recording duration by pressing the number buttons - now I have to press OK and go mad wit the up/down.left/right arrows to set these options on a bloody digital keypad. Takes ages compared to the old firmware which was much more user friendly.

All I want to be able to do is to restore my old image and from then on update the TP list.

I see. I never realised that the firmware had been changed that much.

I had always assumed that the latest V8s firmware was similar to the V5s, but with a couple of extras added.

It's always annoying then things get updated with "improvements" which actually makes the usability worse! Like so many updated software programs for the pc.
