    saintomer,
theres no way you can stream these settings to your WAN.
these settings will give you the best result on your home pc,but this is because, although it is going out through WAN,its not going very far to get back to you.
anyone you stream this too such as friends or family probably wont even be able to lock onto the stream for more than a couple of seconds.
unless your on T1 or T3 this will never work,i dont care how good your upload is,you are trying to stream far too much information for your upload capabilities.ian.

    Hi Ian
sure it does stream with these codecs and the preferable codec for vlc is H264 and the most stable one and the next is mp4v
for streaming with these codecs good compination is necessary as example no stream with encapsulation ASF/wmv with these codec

    Hi
if you follow this discussion from start you will find the solution for any problem
Very simple to use the program just choose channel and hit start streaming
but before that you should assign dns dynamic address for you and open and forward port 1234 to your pc ip
    that,all
    regards

    Hi Mfaraj57

it doesnt matter what encapsulation method i use,i cannot get a picture on WMP when using the H264 and mp4v codecs.the audio is fine, but the picture just wont show.i spent all day yesterday installing and uninstalling codecs on my pc,each of which claimed would get me a picture in WMP when recieving a H264 stream, but none of them worked.even the splitters didnt work.

are you able to view a stream on your pc using WMP that has been sent to you via VLC and your program when its using the H264 codec?

im really beging to think that VLC cannot stream this codec.ian.

    Hi Ian
you will not see picture from stream(h264 or mp4v) by windows media player you have to use vlc itself to play the stream
wmp does not have the specific plugins for these codecs to play

    thank you my friend.
but the crash you have displayed doesnt happen when streaming with VLC 1.0.1

i wish i had asked before wasting a whole day trying plugins and codecs that claimed they would get WMP to play the stream.

the only problem i now face is that for some reason VLC wont open the stream when i type in mms://my DNS:1234 on the client pc like what WMP does.
VLC just states that it was unable to open the address.
is there another player for the client pc that can display a stream thats using H264?
i tried winamp pro,but that wont display a picture either, just the audio like WMP.ian.

    Hi
to say first mms protocol will not accept h264 codec so you should use http protocol .with h264 with mms use only wmv2 or div3
to play mms by vlc for reason i do not know use mmsh instead of mms like picture

Yes vlc player 1.0.0 and 1.0.1 can play h264 while vlc .99 usually crashs
i think realplayer can play the stream in any format

Just to confirm what I've posted on dudez,
got h264 with mp4a and mp4v with mp4a streaming to vlc client
can get mp4v to play on media player classic but no audio
no h264 on media player classic
using dreambox vlc streamer v1.1 and vlc 1.0.1
got a vlc could not open the address error when used with dream2webstreamer 1.0.0

me too now, just to copy ,all thanks to saintomers and mfaraj57's help.
the h264 codec does make a big difference,so its well worth getting this working.im also using the VLC streamer 1.1 and VLC 1.0.1.
no go with real player either.ian.
