Default looking for a new box

Hi I have been using my a780 for years now but it looks to be gone. I'm looking for a new box. I don't want to spend the earth but I don't want a box to last a year and then need to replace. I don't record and have zero interest in recording the Tele. I have a cable line to feed my kv already. But I'm thinking I could get a dual cable and sat box in case I choose to switch to sat. Iv been reading about the zgemma box which looks quite cheap. What I don't want to do is buy a box like kv again with all eggs in 1 basket. I would like to switch servers if I later wanted to

I have very little knowledge and experience but iv always figured things out in the past. I could buy a setup complete off somebody else but where's the fun in that?

    Cheers in advance for help/advice

Zgemma h1 and h2 are quite cheap on the bay ?65 to ?80 on the bay, the newer H2H about ?90 both have dual sat and cable tuners so can be used with either or both. Unfortunately systems like kv and zgemma could end tomorrow or 5 years down the line, nobody knows their life expectancy that's the chance/gamble you take.

I remember when 750 went off air.
KV 780 was the "talk of the town".. Many said because it connects to the net, it would never go off..
Although we have had a good run (3 to 5 years), we are back to square one with all these other different styles / makes of new boxes. Even more complicated...

May be KV will be back on?!

you could recheck kv box or consider xtrend 8000 3 tuner ports to play with of your choice and insert internal hdd.

I've been using the a780 for years also but I've now changed to openbox they are only ?33 from their site & so far I'm really happy. Apparently from what I've been reading they are cheaply made but I don't care for ?33 will just get a new one if it dies

Very true......but have you heard of the saying buy cheap you buy twice.....

The thing about the cheap boxes is you have your fingers crossed every time you do anything to them

update channel list / flash new firmware / even unplugging them from the wall can kill them
