    Default XMLTV EPG Download problems

I have had lots of enquiries lately regarding errors downloading the XMLTV EPG. Does anyone have a definitive fix for this? I have suggested a couple of things to people that seems to of fixed mine but not sure if it was a combination of the things i tried, or just 1 problem.

    1. I deleted any unrecognised files off my Hard drive (USB 3) as I believe there is a problem with the XMLTV files over writing the old ones. Could probably reformat the said drive for the same effect in FAT 32.
    2. I followed the usual steps to update the XMLTV EPG from the system menu.
    3. I now always leave my box in standby on an evening. Sometimes it displays EPg which I assume is when it is updating automatically.

Any other suggestions that have worked for people?

XMLTV is now officially dead, none of the solutions mentioned above will fix this problem anymore. I keep getting "EPG Decompress Failed! Please Check Disk Free Volume". After reading similar stories posted on this forum and others, this seems to be a bug in the XMLTV update files. All we can do is wait for a fix from the developers. Just out of interest what firmware are people using that are experiencing this problem? I am using the December 2014 firmware.
