Thanks very much for your assistance, I did as you suggested and tried to read dump, it only shows everthing at FF. I don't think its reading, I could attempt the upgrade or buy new air bag module, I knows this defeatist, but my knowledge/experience is very limited.

anyone can share details about CarProg "GM v0.4" ? many times reading the data is corrupt. and the "read fault memory" "clear crash data" and "clear fault memory" never works.
and my carprog is original and all these problems happen

sounds like your carprog needs rework

It's an observation I made when I went on the process of updating my CarProg firmware. I suppose not all boards will be the same as mine, and don't know if someone may have realized about this already, because honestly I haven't read the whole 47 pages on this topic haha, but here we go:
We all know that in order to update the firmware we need to lift processor's pin 55, and connect it to 3.3 V so that the chip gets erased, and therefore accepts new firmware. Well, what I found is that specifically in my board, pin 55 isn't connected to anything, but only to a test point that is the end of the circuit for that pin. This means that in this case there's no need to unsolder that tiny pin, with the risk involved in doing so. It's only needed to solder a wire to that test point, which is beside "C19" marking on the other side of the board, and just connect it to 3.3 V when needed. I ended up removing the whole processor just to confirm my thoughts, but it's the way it looked indeed. Here I attach some photos so that you can see it.
Mine is a chinese clone that was bought in November 2.018. I don't know if all current ones are manufactured the same way, but hope this helps.

Thank you for your very much for this very informative post. I do have the same board and keen to minimise soldering. Did you de-solder the wire placed at this point after erasuring. Did you remove chip 88. I did see a post that you can lift pin 8 on chip 88. Finally was your upgrade successful. Thanks again for taking the time to create this post. I am keen to do the same and show my appreciation to all who provide their valuable time to contribute to this wonderful service.

    Hello,
I have a question regarding read / write eeprom memory from the Airbag module.
Is there any tool that I could do without desoldering?
Ideally, it would be possible to do so by plugging the pins directly into the module, or directly through the obd2 connector. The memories are usually ST95320 or ST95640.
At the moment I use a soldering iron + UPA programmer, but if possible I would prefer to do it as described above.
I know that there are tools for this, but very expensive. Maybe there are some clones, or someone will tell what they use for such applications, maybe you could buy something for around 200 euros?
I was thinking about CarProg, but if I'm not mistaken, it would still not be without a soldering iron?
I am asking for advice and info what you use.

For VAG edc16, yes A1+ is needed
For Opel edc16 need A1 only.

I see various wiring to the 12v power input across some transistors and some have a resistor. Can someone tell me why its being done and are they done on specific boards?

    Hello
Looking for batches for AT88SC Carprog 8.21.
Carprog itself is in good working order, but AT88SC is damaged.
Those that are not working here.

    Thank you.
