    Default Rav4 2006 lost keys

    Hi,

Would like to help a friend with a Toyota Rav4 from 2006 with smart keys (all keys lost). I found a lot of useful information, gwee is one of the experienced guys here.
So just to see if I am on the right track, I wanted to kindly ask you for your help:

    1) Need a new or used (better to try it with an used?) smart key with silver logo at the backside
    2) Due to my information the Rav4 from 2006 should have an extra IMMO BOX, so the eeprom is not in the ECU. The IMMO BOX is behind the glovebox?
    3) Programming a virigin dump into the eeprom of the IMMO BOX to be able to learn new keys to the car => need to find a virgin eeprom dump
    4) Going to the car dealer/any car garage and let them learn the new/used key to the car via the Techstream software/hardware

So could you please help me with the mentioned procedure? Do someone have a virigin eeprom dump for a Rav4 from 2006?

    Thanks a lot in advance!

There you have idbox + smart ecu(certification ecu). First is probably behind heaters and you need really much parts dismount to get it.

    Hi Autofan,

Thanks for your help! Sounds not that good, since there is so much to dismount. Have to see then which would be the best way to reach these modules (idbox and smart ecu).

May I ask, if both IDBOX and SMART ECU need to be opened? That means, if both eeproms need to be in virgin mode to start programming a new key? Is is very hard to find virgin dumps for these?
Sorry, but now I do not have any number of the parts. I just wanted to check out how hard it would be to do this.

    Thanks!

Orange Toyota smart key dongle would be my first bet.

    @ ray-ray:

I read about that smart key dongle. So using it with a bit of luck will do the whole job of learning a new master key to the Rav4 without any other procedure?

    @ gwee:

So I only need to read the 93c86 eeprom of smart ecu? And additionally you need smart key data lines pg 1,2,3,8 from the new key which has to be added to the Rav4?
Then you can change the dump that way that the new key will be accepted?

Which software will show me the pg data lines as shown in the first post here: http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums/showthread.php/408792-Toyota-Landcruiser-Smartkey-Lost

    Thanks a lot!

    Hi,

I see that reading the key data would be the problem since the tools are very expensive. And such a tool would be only used just for that one car. So let's see what the guy will decide to do.

    Thanks for the information

Tool cost about $15.00 it takes 1 min. to reset the immo. I've been use it for long while on USA regine cars. After it's been reset the immo. Light is solid waiting for 4D master Keylogic it will not register a valet value,it wants to see a master first.

Type 2 quick reset (key style 1 min. Reset) (proxy with slot 1 min. Reset).

USA >Prius 2004-09 type 2 or 4 quick reset (key or slot proxy) inside the proxy is 4D chip. Works the same way as the key in barrel or fob in slot. Tested!

USA normally all is done via obd2, EEPROM is rare and more money to make. That why these grasshopper been here trying to help with USA region cars.

    Hi,

    nice discussion about these issues

For me it wouldn't be a problem to wait 16 minutes, but I have to take the bit of risk into account.

So would that mean, that if the orange dongle will succeed in resetting the system, then I will have the same situation as with uploading a virigin dump into the eeprom? So after the orange dongle is ready, one different (new) master key could be programmed to the car with Techstream via OBD? Or is it only possible to add slave keys (valet keys)?

    Thx!

Why doesn't OP just use MiniVCI ($30 Chinese Techsctream clone), buy a passcode online via http://www.weboctopus.nl/ or similar and do a reset via ODB port/software and wait 16 minutes?

Isn't this a lot easier than taking the dash apart etc and messing with eeproms?...and they'll own MiniVCI which is good for ALL kinds of Toyota diagnostics, not just IMMO.
