    Default BMW 118d chip tune

    Hi Guys,
Im a real noob at this chip tuning game, I am looking to flash my 118d 143hp to something closer to 180hp. Could someone please tell me what tool I need, which software and could someone post a flash file for me?

What year is your car? Most common ecu is the EDC17. You need an expensive tool to read/write this ecu. And yes 174Hp is possible.

    Hi Luc

Yes it is possible to clone the ecu, just copy the contents of the EEprom (95320) to the spare ecu.
It is safer to copy all memory, MPC, M58, and the 95320.
I have ori files and tuned maps, the 110Hp will not go more than 130Hp because the turbo is to small

Sorry read to fast, you want to put your ecu into a different car? So remove I**M

    Hi Citronel,

If you have the Lexia you cab akways go original again.
Sometimes very handy you can re-code the injectors also.
With the Galetto you only read/write the external flash, not the MPC, or the EEprom. You need a BDM tool or desolder the EEprom.
The EGR can also be disabled in the SW. You must be careful playing with the baro-sensor. The boostpressure will go crazy. The atmo-press will be the base turbo boost pressure in the calculation of the final boostpressure. Also the dew point calculation will be lost. Resulting in limp-mode.

Attached a EDC16 picture, this is from an Alfa JTD but is very similar. The external flash and EEprom is on the other side of the PCB but because the pcb is glued I only open it if I have to.....

Also a picture of an EDC17 as used in the BMW, in this case there is no external flash or eeprom, all is in the Tricore.

I can modify the map if you post the dump. I don't now if i may mention company names here but google on EDC17 you find a few company's, but tool costs 3000-5000 euro!
