    Hy everyone,

Im willing to buy a FVDI clone, now branded as SVCI, but the cheapest i can find is the J2534 SVCI for around US150 and for the double of that price there is the SVCI (without the J2534 letters).

I remember seeing a few years ago the FVDI 2014 for under $100 and it seems like a nice tool to have, just for some hobbies, but I've been a little out of the scene and I would like to get your professional opinion if its worth to go for the 2014 version (i still have a place where i can get it), the J2534 version or instead i just should go for the 2020 for $300.

    thanks for your honest feedback

    @ tomalamix
Here are some information from my point of view...
I had the 2014 version and sold it for about 2 years ago. After that I bought myself the 2019 version.
I personally didn’t sow any big hardware difference between 2014 and 2019. The 2019 has adapter for Vvdi2 extra.
The software package in 2019 seams same as in 2014, but in 2019 there is Vvdi2 software (I think 4.5.8 version) + new software for vag group, bmw and Mercedes (support all previously named cars till 2019)... The version 2020 has support for all cars till 2019. The 2014 version did good worked with Windows XP, but 2019 is working good with Windows 10. Keep in mind that all FVDI/ SVCI hardware and software can cause some problems if you use some other obd tool on the same laptop/ pc. That means you need extra laptop only for that tool.

    WUZA,

Thank you for your detailed answer, you went straight to the point when comparing the 2014 vs 2019/2020.

Now the difference between that J2534 SVCI is still a mystery to me.
