Today I play with my spare EZS W164 (old, motorola), W221 (NEC), W212 (old, NEC), W220 (moto 908 2 pcs), original Power Adapter.
Here my test results after update :
    W221 - all keys lost - Ok
W164 - no connection by OBD, IR is ok. Can not do data collect, EZS IR reading only
W212 - all keys lost by OBD - Ok
W220 - no K-Line connection for data collect. IR reading - Ok.

Question - does anybody have success OBD bench connection to W164 or W220 EZS ? I try all available connection variants for W164, power adapter too.

Is this because you don't know how to make it?

    Default W203 with NEC EIS

I had an unusual problem the other day.
W203 Merc with what I think was a new NEC EIS in it, all keys lost.
When I opened the EIS, it was not marked with with either HC12 or ST12.
When reading it in the adapter it produced a MCU id of 0000.
    The EIS was marked A 209 545 31 08.

VVDI help on reading this EIS seems to have a special cable that I can't find anywhere.

It's just and EIS/EZS bench cable. You can order everywhere on the net or you can make yourself. There were some tutorials/schemes here on the forum how to make these. And you need a gateway - either from a scrapyard Benz or buy it together with the EZS/EIS cables.

Pretty sure I will have to make that cable, it's not available to buy.

Couldn't find the whole set there. What's "a reasonable price" for you?
