Some of the UK?s biggest and best known charities are spending less than half of the cash raised every year by members of the public on good works, a new research has found.
The report from the True and Fair Foundation found that one in five of the country?s biggest charities spend less than 50 per cent of the cash raised for them on charitable activities.
The news will disappoint the thousands of volunteers who every year put aside time to raise money for the good causes, as well as donors who will expect more cash to go to help those in need.
Some of the worst offenders are some of Britain?s best known voluntary organisations such as Cancer Research UK, the Guide Dogs for the Blind and the British Heart Foundation.
Rob Wilson (above), the charities minister, said charities had to ?reassure people and make very clear that the money donated to them will be spent on frontline charitable activities?.

hmm very big money being made by all of them, and dont forget they get 75% discount on business rates, plus prob get discounts on leccy etc, think i will stick with charites i might need.... air ambulance and mountain rescue, im a bit sceptical about charities nowdays, i used to go in all the charity shops but the stuff they sell can often be bought new for less, i mean its all donated ffs yet they want ???s instead of a few beer tokens and they get labour for nowt in most cases ( volunteers ) what bugs me is when they collecting in supermarkets, mostly you have to walk passed them to get out, and they will come out with "children with cancer" etc, trying to tug on the heart strings like, after your about skint from buying over priced pish from tespish and the like.
i suppose i might need cancer research and heart foundation but you can only donate so much, and cant donate to all of em.

I make regular payments to a few charities on a monthly basis, that part I don't mind - after all they're in a good cause, and as Elmer says, I might need 'em one day as well. The part I object to is that I then get phone calls from agents working for them asking for even more. I'm guessing that these agents are obviously working on a commission basis, since they don't seem to want to take "No, I already donate" as an answer. I've blocked just about every number they could possibly use now as a result. The charities need to wake up and realise they're being taken for a ride which will drive away genuine donors if they carry on using agencies and paying them commission using such aggressive tactics.
My master plan is to live forever..... going to plan so far

They don’t have to do the leg work any more, most of them spent over $500,000 advertising over TV and sky channels to get charities money, they do get money, I would like our govt to take part on the donation project and not the crooks.

Before considering giving to a charity, I always ask what the salary of their Chief Executive is. You can see, I don?t donate to ?Save the Children?. Really, there should be proper government regulation for charities to ensure people are not conned.
