Default Cross reference BMW part numbers to ECU type

Is there any program that will cross reference BMW part numbers to the actual ECU used?

For example, I had an X6 the other day and I wanted to know what DME was in it.
I got a BMW part number of 8573235
Google search did not find anything to identify it as MSV70/80/ DME7/8

    Cheers

I would kill for a decent x-reference program.
So many times I get the same problem.
Tool developers, if your reading this, why not put the ECU ID that we all know?

For E60/E90 look for: SA-Option Helper / FindECU small software. It requires SPDated and it will give you everything you need.

I'm not following you here, SPDated is a program?
    Google turns up nothing.

For the Bosch units this is fantastic. Use realoem to lookup the long part number then on the bosch site click external number and write the long part number in.

Ecu from picture in first post is: EDC 17CP45-2.32. Bosch number 0281019628
