Bit of an old thread but I'm in the process of looking to replace the a duff head unit on a 986, I've got a known good donor one, but I need to remove PROTECT, I know the BIN file can be amended to cancel out the VIN look up, but don't know what software I will need to do this, tutorials etc possibly?

Still hopeful someone can help with how I would do this, does it require the EEPROM being desolder?

All sorted, straightforward in the end, and for those who may be wondering, not you don't need to desolder the EEPROM
