Help with faulty Axone 2000?

Hello,

I have two Axone 2000 that do not work. They have the exact same problem. When I press the 'on' button, both units beep a long 4 second beep and repeat over and over. There is no screen turning on. If I press the 'on' button again the beeping will stop. It will do this with all modules.

The 7.2v battery is new and fully charged. I have not tested the internal 3v backup battery. The units sat for four years in storage.

Is this repairable?

If it is related to the bios file I cannot update it if I can not turn on the unit... but it might be that the units are bricked.....

Well while everyone else was confused about the sun coming up I was trying to solve this problem and I've got a way, but have further to go.

The Axone 2000 basically a DOS based PC in a box running an intel 386 processor. Thinking about this, it must have a bios and it must have a CMOS and it does. There is a backup battery for the CMOS on board inside the case.

The beeping when thinking about it is POST checks! Yes it is and what does this particular bios do when the CMOS battery is flat? It beeps for 4 seconds continously. Replacing the CMOS battery has solved it and the units now boots.

My new problem? The unit boots to a blank screen. My guess is the CMOS is wiped from lack of power and this has really bad effects on the unit.

Does anyone have any ideas what to do now? I get a single POST confirmation beep that the unit has booted, the screen lights up but it is blank.

Shame on Texa for making a unit with an internal battery that when failing renders the unit dead. Every Texa Axone 2000 out there that still works is a ticking time bomb. Once that battery dies the same will happen to every unit. They sold 30,0000 units to unsuspecting customers. They definitely knew this would happen. What a bunch of losers.

Well please help if you know of anything I can do to get these units running again.

So are you suggesting I publicly ridicule Texa for installing an Easter egg in their hardware that would make them rich?

I'll give them an opportunity to assist first. I know their stance on these units is that they do not service or assist with them any more. This is a bit different. I believe I have discovered a deliberate attempt to sabotage their product through design. All in the interests of self capitalism. I'm sure there are laws around this, in Italy too.

Sure it's not a corrupted bios, if you search here there is a thread on reflashing the bios.

I'm thinking it is a corrupted bios but I can't flash the bios unless the unit boots. There is a function on the internal software to update it. That is unless anyone knows another way to do it?

I'm looking into bios updating through the com port. It has one. I've never done this before but I may be able to hack the com port with a PC and update it.....

That being said, these were Aprilia factory units. The only bios I see on here is for cars. I'm unsure but I think it would lose all functionality and become a car based Axone 2000?
