    Default BMW E39 530d 184hp Galletto 1260 Read/no write - erase failure

    Was trying to tune my car today, have read out the full file out of my ecu - about 512kb ish.

    I can ecu ID and read the ecu, when i start to write the new tuned file i get the error:
    Erasing...errore invio FORMAT2: -9
    and
    Erasing...errore invio FORMAT2: -5

    Ps. The same error with the original file i read out before i did anything.

    Can also read out the 48kb file with MPPS v13/16. Full ecu ID.

    Now the car wont start. So im ~~~~ out of luck it seems..

    What do i do? I flashed my other car with MPPS (525dat 2001) but this pre-facelift didnt want to use MPPS for some reason first.

    Help me out guys, i need the car working

    I can still read out my ECU ID in MPPS. I just cant write the damn think even if i can read out the ecu. I really hope this is possible to fix:S

    i think something wrong with your tool . Try to install mpps on other pc and than try again

    Yes you can , take out ecu try on bench , if no result remove flash and put on programmer.

    This is read and tried writing with Galletto 1260. Read OK, ECU ID OK, Erase ERROR, Write ERROR. Problem is that the galletto reads out 512kb files and MPPS reads out 48kb files. I cant seem to write the 512kb files with MPPS, guess there is a reason for it:\

    I know BMW can update everything with WinKFP, so as a absolute last resort i will flash the ECU with original updated software from BMW.

    You should try in recovery mode with mpps or boot mode on bench if that dont work, or like carbon7319 said your last option is to desolder the flash and program on external programer. And dont try again with galetto 1260 it will brick the ecu again buy galetto v54 instead if you want to tune your car.

    Have ordered Galletto v54. Cant seem to reflash my DDE, ISTA-P has it greyed out so i cant update it for some reason. WinKFP gets an error, it's strange tho as i can read out the hardware and softwaredata from the ecu. Kinda annoying i must say:\

    How do i get this in bootmode? Edc15c4, is it grounding pin#24 inside the case on the chip for 5sec on powerup? Connect the ecu to the car, ground the pin and then try mpps recovery?

    Got the bootmode working and have flashed the ecu. Can read it now without problems. But now it has 0 kilometers on it and the ews is triggered. It even wanted out of the automatic life and went manual mode, what the fuxx? How do i fix this?

    you have kill the eeprom you need a virgin relearn with inpa
    Tuning Cars and Trucks, Immo off , DTC delete, DPF off

    Seems like i just had to run BMWScanner and aligb the ews and delete some fault codes, and it started Love the smell of a dieselburner after a long week of headturning problems. Thanks all for the replies
