Hello Sox, Transfer BGA and EEPROMS and will work. But be carefull how you unsoldier bga's ... they have glue under it ... after u succesfuly remove bgas from both plates .... donor and original you have to carefully clean glue from donor pcb. Watch for pins ... i usualy clean with not to hoot round soldier tip but ... be very careful mate those pins on pcb like to fall off ...
    I wish you good luck
    Regards friend!

I'm repairing flooded F30, I was in luck, original FEM was just enough alive. Kombi is non-responsive.

I just want to confirm, Transfer BGAs and EEPROMs works!

After transfer, there is just one problem, milage is 0. Obvious its stored somewhere else.

    Hi all,

I got used identical kombi (donor), I have red dot and ISTA says vehicle ID mismatch (or something). Now I have two options:

    1. Write VIN in donor eeprom (160D0WT)
    2. Transfer eeprom (actual there is one more nearby 95080WT)

    What option do you recommend?

    Hi t22,

I suggest to desolder eep 160D0WT from your non responsive original cluster and put it
into your replacement cluster and check what happens. You should get your original mileage then.

    Good luck

    Thanks tigex,

I desoldered and transfered 160D0WT from original damaged cluster to donor. Red dot remained, but Istad came with new fault, "unknown eeprom version". So the eeprom have some chip ID or serial nr. and CPU checks this.

I end up with buying smok. I cleared VIN and incremental area in donor eeprom. I put it in the car. Red dot gone, odometer correct. All good and working. I don't know why, but I got +3km in odometer.

My next project is to change head unit Magneti Mareli (HU_ENTRYNRAV) with used one. I can't get navigation to work on donor even with can filter. Navigation in menu is greyed out. AppNr. is DF. FSC codes are missing, because donor car did not had navigation option, but GPS hardware is present. If someone knows the way besides buying new unit...maybe chip transfer again?

BMW wants to sell new items, but that all of them wants.

Now I have smok for sale

    Yes. And zeroes for incremental/odometer.

I know that this has nothing in common with cloning FEM but I will write anyway may somebody have the same problem. All right, that was easy, as I look back. FSC (certificates) should be with status "Accepted" and issued with same VIN as HU (headunit). HU VIN in my case was different. So I changed HU VIN to VIN written in FSC. Then I "Update" FSC and with this status changed from "Rejected" to "Accepted". After resetting HU Navigation works.

Hi, sorry for bring this post up, but I'm now trying to repair a flood F30 as well, are the two big chips called BGA and the two small ones EEPROM? In order to make a used FEM work, I have to transfer all four of them correct?
