console not reading disc

hello all.

i am having problems with the concole not reading any new or old games, it just keeps on saying open tray, i load a game it starts to spin then it stops:-((. i have tried the normal trick like hoovering the vents( just in case its a problem with overheating). opening and closing tray several times, shouting at it with the tray open and with the tray shut, i've even told it i'm swapping it for a play station, and nothing,

u have a laser fault
u need a new laser (try a laser cleaning disc)

there only 7 quid on fleebay m8 and very easy to change too

How old is the xbox? Drive? Games you've tried? Tried Other media?

console is about 24months, not changed any parts so i guess the drive is also 24 months, the oldest game i have is portal and this one isn't playing either, i have just borrowed a friends spare console so i can open mine up and look at the laser and laser arm, (hoping the arm is the problem and only need a little silicon greese, fingers crossed
