e46 ews4.3

hi everyone, ive had no issues making a few keys for ews3, i work on bmws and started getting into making keys for them, today i ran into a 4.3, i only use multi tool v7.7 because for the few vehicles i make keys for, ive had no issues. now i use the ews plug along with it but i noticed the 4.3 board is different than ews3. is the multi tool x7.7 able to make ews4.3 keys? i tried asking xhorse, but just get a response to buy VVDI2, i know support would be limited on this device, but hoping someone can guide me into the right direction, thank you.

i do see make dealer key option for ews4, so im assuming it can make it, but not sure how to read the eeprom to prepare the key, or which solder joint to connect this ews pin to. excuse the newbie questions, im new at this trying to learn and i tried searching/asking before posting.

buy ak90 (cost about 40$) very cheap tool and will do the job

Never met a ews 4,x on e46..but I read a post here..

The multi tool should do it

how to do i read the eeprom with multi tool? when i use the cas/ews plug to connect directly to the ews4, the pin where im suppose to touch a solder joint is different than ews3.

i have do many without any problem 4.3
no tool is safe 100% there always a risk

I use R270 to read/write EWS4, I have made one transponder on X3 with zedbull and Effi software...

the r270 seems pretty low priced online enough to purchase to have along with my multi tool, so ill look into it.

my questions is, how do i read eeprom with what i current have? i tried asking xhorse but they just want to sell me new equipment, im trying to make a key with programmer i currently have (multi tool 7.7) is it read through OBD2? i dont have vehicle here to test but lives very close, i just dont want to waste his time but also i want to learn, he just wants a spare and not in hurry.

Better if you buy r270 and ak90.both are low priced and do a good job.

Multi tool can not work through the obd with ews.

You can also buy a programmer like vvdi or xprog to be able to read the mcu..

thanks for the input guys. well that stinks, multi tool advertises so much it can do until you realize it cant "better than ak300"

guess ill look into getting something to make at least ews4.3 keys

im looking online and see ak90 pretty low priced as well as a cradle for ews4.3 so that i dont have to solder and works directly with AK90 , x-prog or r270.

of those three programers which would you guys prefer? ak90 seems pretty easy abd straightfoward to use, ill mostly only be using this to make keys for ews4.3, i already have success making keys for ews3 with my multitool 7.7

AK90 only for ews and work very well and easy. x-prog r270 can do but also for other types.

thanks, i purchased ak90/ews4 adapter cradle so i dont have to solder very cheap on ebay, i had a giftcard anyways so worked out perfect. figure good to have incase i run into more ews4. thanked everyone for their input!
