Always is better to remove the chip....
Tl866 is very good and cheap programmer but always must choose the correct brand of chip...
It give wrong dump with incorrect selection
    in many cases....

I am very happy with tl86. Works great. Just stumbled on this thread. Thought i would try this solution and give feedback on my finding on suggested repair for in circuit reading.

I’m telling you it works like a charm will not scramble the chip. I use it on Saab cim without any worry.. tested..

Are you choosing the right chip and is your connection to the ribbon wire correct. Did you clean the chip, is there a dot on pin 1?

Hi, I have just received a TL866II plus and have the newest software. I am having the same issues with the over current reading in circuit.
So I need to bridge C22, I cant click the pic to get a larger view of what to bridge. l also have the newest software. I'm trying to program my Jeep Jk cluster, 93C76 chip. I am very new to this! Any help greatly appreciated.

I have done the mod, was able to read and save from the instrument cluster without removing the chip.
Have not removed the second hand cluster that is in my car to reprogram of the original as yet.

    Thanks Ray Ray!!
