anyone shed some light?
thanks in advance!!
Hi, I was wondering if anyone knows how detroit generates the back-door password from the seed code for ddec V. Is it a mathematical equation or do they use an encryption key of sorts. And if so, does anyone know if there is software out there to do it.
I was hooked to a DDEC V and noticed that every time I clicked "backdoor" in DDDL, the seed changed slightly. There was an 8 character seed, but only the 7th character changed. This was done without ever starting the motor. (Which would probably cause the ddec v to generate a completely different seed value.)
Hercamp mentioned that DDRS could use the seed directly somehow. I'd like to find that post again
Edit: Noticed that the 7th character advances by 16 positions forward in the alphabet.
Eg. A to Q, then Q to K.

......you know ...I have gived a lot of information ....photos ,screens,...answers.. all as possible but ...just a few of the people catch up the idea... cant be more explisit...if I do ...a lot of people get it and use.. only to get this idea and maybe sell it.
see the pictures in dct ....and I can tell you only possible with dct ...other way ...calling to dealer .

Sure I know that the dealers charge alot to process the backdoor using the seed... which is not practical for most of my needs. I do need to find a way to get the current password though. Maybe you can PM me? If you have the time? You are a prolific writer here, with 400+ posts. I'd be forever trying to read all of them. I saw some pictures you put up about dct. What if I use the core dump feature and scan it for the seed? Then look for the password in the same vicinity. That's my next step, unless someone shows me a way to get it more directly. How about it Hercamp?
Edit:
Just so the next guy knows...
On a ddec iv, I did a core dump from addresses 0x0 - 0x3FFF (16 kilobytes) with DCT.
Since I knew the password on this unit... I changed it to a number... and then did another core dump. Next, I did a binary file compare of the 2 dump files. They were exactly the same. So the password is not kept in memory, per se. After reading more of the posts around here... I found I can get the backdoor for ddec iv.
I'm still struggling with how to do it on a ddec v. Ddec v has at least 64k of memory in it, so it might take 2 hours or so to do a complete core dump on one of those.

hercamp is a good hard working person, posted a lot of good info on this site. It is unfair for you to ask him to do it all again just for you. I do no Detroit programming but before commenting I did a search for what you are asking about found all the info in about 10 min. try the search it is a wonderful thing.
A DAY YOU DIDN'T LEARN SOMTHING NEW IS A WASTED DAY.
Please don't pm me for keys, that is what the forum is for.
If it helped, please use the thanks button, if thanks isn't enough use the scales.
My bad...
Sorry Hercamp. Really.
Okay... The Garage has re-opened! Hip hip hooray!!!
I missed you guys, and can't think of a better thread to
say I'm Sorry in. Compared to some of you guys, I am a 1st
grader. Yup, that makes me hesitate to post. Just so you guys know,
I work 14 hour days, 7 days a week. I'll try and make sure my posts
are valuable around here.
