Lightbulb How to clone an EDC17C46 ECU

Hi, I have manged to screw-up my wife's car by trying to flash a Quantum tuned file onto it, but in the process of opening the cover on the ECU I broke some legs on a chip, i tried to fix it but the car would not start.

So I then purchased a second hand ECU but the last 2 numbers were different E.g.

    Wifes car: EDC17C46 03L 906 018 JH
    New ECU:
    EDC17C46 03L 906 018 JJ

2 members on this forum kindly tried to help but i think that has gone to a dead-end and it did not help with me purchasing a slightly different ECU.

So, I'm just about to purchase another ECU with the exact same part numbers so would someone be able to list the steps that i need to take so that i don't screw-up again please.

Tools i have are VCDS, KESS, KTAG.

Read OLD ECU in Bootmode FULL and write to your New (used) ECU.

    Use Ktag ----> Protocol 199
How to read ECU Ksuite will show you step by step.

I did that with the above 2 ECU's so i think maybe these 2 ECU's are not compatible ?

if you have back up from original ecu
just do the original ecu backup to donor ecu and test

Why test something that is well known it will not work?

Why not read something about the involved technology before giving fake advices?

Edc17 is another world than edc16/15.

Upload epprom+flash from original ECU and eprom+flash from donor ecu

Hope you don't need to make 1:1 clone as you adviced him. 99% of the times will not work on EDC17.

The advice i already gave in other his thread, flash again scrapyard ecu with its original dump and make immo off in eeprom. And i guess so he did.

this is not edc16 and it might (probably) won't work as there is OTP area in that flash! He can try to do this but BE SURE TO KEEP full backup of NEW bought ecu so you can restore it to original state.

I would advise to full read NEW bought ecu , post here flash and eprom and someone will do immo off for you so car will start.
