W203 3K91D EIS

Hello,
Just wanted to share this information, it has just caused me 4 days of pain. It took alot of searching and trying different dumps with different tools, but this solution works.
Tested with VVDI-PROG and SMOK.



W203 merc, faulty key.
Could not use VVDI MBTOOL, due to not reading password from IR.


Removed EIS and read using VVDI PROG and no-solder adapter.
Chip is a MC912DC128A 3K91D.


This is not in VVDI PROG, so used MC912DG128A


After read, for whatever reason, EEPROM was good, FLASH was corupt.
Use VVDI MBTOOL to make key.
EASY


Car now doesnt start, not communication with STAR.


Both keys not work.


Remove and read FLASH with SMOK and VVDI PROG. (both read and write chip fine)
After hours of searching and trying FLASH dumps, this one works perfect. No faults in EIS.

Thanks for that super-helpful post mate! Got me out of a pile of s#!t and stress ultra quick......

(Thats how I remember DK being helpful waaaaay back when... the forum theme was even Red & Black, not Blue & Grey.
......And we could make donations to the site.......

Just a follow on note here..... Not the first time I have had vvdi prog corrupting the flash whilst reading the eeprom.

If you can avoid using vvdi prog for this job, then dont use it. Never have a prob when I use my trusty R260 Rosfar (either Blue or Red clone). One of the most reliable old school tools I have.

do you have verification turn on vvdi prog when reading,
like xprog clone when do verification of read eeprom corrupt flash.so turn off ver.. and it will be ok

SHADOW is the security word(2Bytes)
Unsecured State: 0xFFFF(1xxx xxxx xxxx xxxx)
Secured State: 0x7FFF(0xxx xxxx xxxx xxxx)
Steps:
1.Read and backup EEPROM and FLASH data
2.Write the new data if needed

but i all time soldering wire.dont use adapter
make around 300 mb and any problem

Because when I did this it was 2018. The chip was not supported in 2018
