    Yes, you can resolder with hot air also. Just buy a flux pen. Make some flux to the solder pads, put eeprom on pads, and make it hot. The eeprom will swim to the right position. Buy a good station, where you can set the temp. Otherwise your can overheat eeprom and pcb. Make training with some old pcb´s.

    the problem is the risk of corruption. if you lose the dump you are in a world of hurt. safer to desolder & only takes 5 minutes anyway

    personally, I always desolder, sometimes, once ive got the dump & will try to read in circuit so I know for next time

    Everyone says its safe to desolder, but i not found yet real case when in circuit programming is corupted something...
    I do many clusters (maybee 200-300) in last 3, 4 years, never desolder eeprom, just sop8 clip or pogo pin probe, and job done for 1 minute. Even my cheapest eep programmers read/write ok (i will never take the risk to heat/burn the chip with important for me data).

    why not, i dont have carprog, but i read this chip so many times with ezp2019, minipro and others..

    I've already tried it on vw cluster but it didn't work because dump read was wrong. Desoldering E2P is always the safest option and must always work

    Default EZP 2023 problem for me. Please help

    Did any one use ezp 2023 ? If do can you tell me how to reset odometer? I don't know where edit it. Please help

    is better remove the eeprom and after read post the file in a new thread write number eeprom, km orig and new km you need
