Am using this nice walkthrough on a 4.2E white Wii as we speak. Seems to work up to this point.

    Thx in advance.

Thanks, this tutorial enabled me to flawlessly re-softmod my WII after one of my kids done a "system update".

its working better than before, i was using softmii stuff before and it just seemed to slow stuff down and i had to use 3 different usb loaders depending on which game i wanted to play.

First off , thnx for the tut m8, its very clear and easy to follow.

So i softmodded my wii 4.2E with Method B, everything seems to be ok and i can play my backups.
Now what about this BootMii thing ? do i need it ? is it advised ?
If so, how would i go about installing it?

Wouldn't worry about it now m8, if you can play games no probs, it's all good.

    Thnx again m8

    Ok then i wont

I did install it as an ios or something ? i can start it via homebrew channel.
Is it advised to dump my nand ?
And how do you control the bootmii menu ? my wiimote dont seem to respond
(blz bare in mind that im a wii-newbie)

    edit :

Nevermind i figured it out and i made a nand backup to be safe

Also, would you happen to know how to get games wich i can start from uloader as a "channel" ?
And if this isnt possible how to get nice game icons instead of the grey questionmarks?
(why the hell is uloader that but ugly? :P)

It doesn?t have to be ugly: http://wiigen.fr/~link79/Vlad/Wii/Homebrews/Images/uloader.png

If you download cover pictures, cut out the front area, rezize them to 160x224 and save them as .png on a SD card then you can get these nice icons.

Hi, thanks for the instructions - working great apart from one problem.

Installed uloader from the files compiled by Ade and I managed to copy two original wii discs to the USB hard drive with uloader. At some point I pressed the update button - I'm now on uloader v4.5. Has falling snow flakes on it. It was blue skies originally!

After the update (or is this a coincidence) I'm finding that original discs can be read and played via the normal wii method, and via the DVD (option 2) button in uloader - but when I try to create new game (copy disc to hard drive) it says "error unable to read disc". The the wii freezes - i'm having to do a hard reset to get out. Its occurring in all game discs now, even the two I managed to back up earlier.

Any ideas, or is there another way of getting original discs to the usb hard drive? I know I can probably download the ISOs but that seems daft as I just want to put games I have paid for on the HDD so the kids can't scratch them

Try using the updated cIOS for 222,223,224, as Hermes also updated those to add some additional features. Just follow step 7 in the linked guide below, you can ignore the rest.

You wouldn't be the only person having problems copying games since version 4.1 thou. I think there's a bug somewhere but Hermes has also managed to brick his Wii!!! So we might have to wait a few weeks for the fix.

    Default Uloader not working

Uloader was working fine for me until today.

I had to replace my sensor and wiped my hard disk and reloaded my games.

Now when I go into uloader the hand shows when I click start but when the list of games is shown I do not get the hand listed to be able to select any games.

I can press the + & - keys ok and it responds on screen as does changing the volume, but the hand is not shown and I can't select a game to load.

The hand works fine for all original games on disk.

    Any idea's?

    Hi

I have installed it successfully and all my games show up in Uloader fine, but when I click load game, it says loading around 20 seconds then it just goes to a black screen.

However, when I try load mario kart, it works fine!

All my games are burned using TDK DVD-R and at 4x speed.

Before this, I had softmodded my wii using a different tutorial and I was playing super mario galaxy fine, until one day when I tried to load it with uloader and I got the black screen that I'm getting now. I formatted by wii and softmodded my wii with this tutorial and the game loaded fine first time, but now its just black screening again!

I haven't changed anything on the SD card from when I had it working, the only thing I can remember changing is my TV settings from 50hz to 60hz, but I changed that back to see if that affected anything, but still no luck.

    Any ideas?

    *UPDATE*
It was working again the following morning! Stopped playing for a while, loaded it and now its black screening again

Also, i really want to be able to load my games from the disk channel like normal games.

Ive heard Cioscorp would be the only way to do this and ive heard its quite risky stuff. Would it be ok to install Cioscorp after following this tutorial or should I stay well clear of it?
