    Default Current Encrypted Channels Update

Having spent a fair time reading around tens of different posts about all different regions of the UK, would it be fair to assume that the majority of people with Dreamboxs are having problems at the mo?

I for one no longer receive Sky Sports or Movies, but get all the other FTP channels (at the moment...)

From what I have read, in summary, are Virgin trying to update their systems to block Dreamboxes (which I think from older posts I gather they tried to do this time last year?), Having not had a dreambox long, is it true that we just have to sit tight and wait for the brainy people out there to come up with a new set of keys to work around?

Thought it would be useful to have a post for everyone to post ideas/updates/links to new keys when they become available.

    Not quite right.

Its a totally new security, Nagra 3.

I'd sell your dreambox and read up on sat.

Nagra 3 has been out in the sat world for around 3 years and still isnt hacked.

    Still not quite right.

If you live in the Leeds area then you will be having problems receiving channels with your Dreambox because VM are running a trial with N3 encryption. This will affect all boxes, not just the Dreambox.
If you live in the West Midlands area, then you may have experienced problems yesterday due to a VM network issue which affected all boxes, not just the Dreambox. As far as I know, most of the channels are back on the air now and so you should be able to get them all on your Dreambox gain.
If you live anywhere else in the UK, you should be fine for now.

Sorry to say but it looks like your days of free sports and movie channels are over for now. The VM feed of these channels in Leeds is now encrypted using N3 (Nagra3) instead of N1.
N3 has been around for a few years in other countries and hasn't been hacked yet. It could be a long, long time before your Dreambox can receive anything other than FTA channels, I'm afraid.

Virgin isn't the first provider the UK to use N3 either as Topup tv began using it 2 years ago.

Got to start somewhere Leeds was just unlucky to be the first place upgraded.

And yes it will be introduced nationwide, as soon as they have sorted any problems that may occur I suppose

Guess if these are facts it will just push more people to streaming online sports and TV which is already big business! Plus they will loose my ?30 quid a month for capped crappy broadband!
