Question How to swap ECU (ECM) on MB W168 (A140)

Hello everyone and sorry if I'm posting in the wrong forum.

I'm a newbie in this world of "playing" with car electronics. I have Delphi DS150E diagnostics.

Last year I have a fault in the MAF sensor on my MB A140. It's soldered on ECU (ECM) and I tried to replace the whole ECU and of course, it didn't work. So I just swapped MAF sensor and everything was OK. Now I have one working ECU without MAF and I'm wondering if there is a way to swap ECU if something went wrong with mine? If I understand correctly reading from the internet, on ECU is stored data about immobiliser and that's a problem? I'm not sure if I use right terms so sorry if I misunderstood something. And that data needs to be somehow copied from one ECU to another?

If I also understand correctly, that data is stored in EEPROM or FLASH memory with sign 29F200BC? Can I just swap that chip? Also, is there any another ways to do that?

I don't understand, there is a lot of threads about swapping w168 ECU by synching with STAR but no one has an answer to my question is it possible without STAR?

Can You explain a little bit more? If You swap eeprom why You need to flash it? Then You can just flash it, without swapping, right?

nope , i will desolder the flash and eeprom and then put them over to the other ecu , and if i want a spare for one car then i will read the flash and eeprom from working ecu and transfer data to the spare ecu

So you are talking about 29F200BC chip?

And with which hardware and tool you are reading and writing?

Yes the 29f2000 is the "Flash". When he said move eeprom and flash. He was saying to move the soic8 eeprom that holds the security data and to also move the chip that contains the flash programming (29f200).

Not, move it and then "flash it".

If your spare ecu is the same part# then you can just move the soic8 eeprom.
