    1) Remember it's French the opposite to what you expect, but
    makes perfect sense when explained.

ASSUMING the yellow/brown is for 2 reasons

    a) No reason, just to piss you off
    b) Vechiles fitted with 'climax control' electronic resistor

    2) Think about it, your some French bloke called Claude or Xavier, and
you are making this car, you insert le resistor, clip, clunck, screw
    motor, plug, NEXT

No plug, click, second plug for the resistor, same on the Clito

    3) Guess you resaerched this thread before you did the job?

yes i had a nosy before it came in, i wanted to order the parts etc and see what i needed, but i decided id drill the holes in resistor etc and solder on wires etc but as it happened it was only the 1 connection ( yellow/brown) that was making bad contact, so it just joined them up and it was grand.

As i see , you guys do lot of A/Cs.
But here is another problem by me.
Here is second Renault with automatic A/C with no working blower motor.
Motor ok , blower motor regulator ok, A/C control unit ok, i changed from other car.
Diagnose say no tdc, in parameters i see PWM signal changing , but still no blower.
By Renault VISU i checked every pin on ecu, but still nothing, on the bench i can check blower regulator with signal generator , but ecu can not. CAN signal missing.
    Any idea????????????

Joining these wires only wont give a lasting solution, because the earth return for full speed also goes through the resistor. You will need to join the purple/brown wire directly onto the black wire that is returning to the motor, (but leaving the black wire connected to the resistor for speeds 1,2,3. The three smaller wires on the resistor are usually ok
