Default dm500c streaming to vlc freezes

    Hi all,

I have a DM500c with the DK 1.1 image installed. I am able to connect to the dreambox's ip address, view the channel lists and stream video via the web-x-tv link or via vlc via the url http://ip-address/video.m3u.

However, the stream intermittently freezes (video and audio) using either approach and I have to stop vlc and start it again to re-establish the stream. This does not appear to happen when watching via the TV.

I believe bandwidth, etc is adequate within my lan so don't think it is some form of starvation - besides the stream would restart in this case.

Could anyone suggest why it might be happening and any way of making the stream reliable? I believe I am using evocamd (1.2?), whatever version shipped with DK 1.1.

    Thanks,
    Raj

The dm500 has never been reliable for recording. Think of it as the 486DX of the PC world , well, maybe not that bad, maybe Pentium 1 .

Sorry, probably not the answer you wanted to hear.

Default dm500c streaming to vlc freezes

Rather then recording, I was more thinking of just viewing via my laptop.

I understand that the stream might be unreliable at times but I am experiencing at random times a complete stop in the stream which does not restart unless you click stop and start in vlc.

Is there anyway of configuring the way the box streams or replacing it with another mechanism or perhaps something on the client (vlc/something else) side?

Is the freezing a common problem or specific to my setup?
