you will need any original tool to VR and write that ecu over obd, look for original kess, autotuner, x17
Hello, I am looking at tuning my 2015 MK7 Golf with a 2.0 TDI. I bought a mpps clone version 16. It will "ECU ID" just fine, and will start to read after clicking button. I will say probing address and read for about 45 seconds, then ask me to save the file. I believe this is an EDC17 in this car according to the MPPS software. When I open the bin file in winOLS, it is nothing but FFFFFFFFFFFF. I am now seeing something about t-prot which prevents access over OBD. My question is can this version of MPPS be used to tune this car? If not what would be a good option that is not too expensive? I am not looking to be a pro tuner, just want to be able to tune my own cars.
Other info: Computer is running win vista 32 bit
- tried data only and full read options in MPPS

What if I pull and bench flash? are there clones that can bench flash this ecu?
For example, could I use this mpps v16 to bench flash by soldering correct pins or do I have this concept completely wrong? If I can I will likely get a spare ECU incase I screw something up. On a side note I have a 2.5L MK5 Jetta. Will this tool be safe to use on that car over OBD? I believe it is an ME7.1.1
