Default Buying MiniPro TL866 - need advice

Hello I need to ask more experienced users here about this AliExpress programmer MiniPro TL866. I want to get into car electronics (Airbag crash code reset, IMMO off, Radio decode...) so I was thinking about this cheaper tool first. Will this be enough for me or am I throwing away my money on this product? If so, what do you recommend me to buy else that is not so expensie? Also when I search site for TL866 a lot of variants come up (a lot of different adapter sets), so if TL866 is the way to go, what adapters would I need the most.

    Appreciate help guys! Thanks.

Good tool for this price. Buy all adapters. It is not enought to do all car electronics = Immo, radio decode, airbag crash - no read motorola, nec, .......etc..

From my experience the TL866A version is the best one. I'm not really sure what the difference between them are, somebody else will have to answer that.

Orange5 is another cheap good programmer.

Not so cheap original, but very good is Codecard Carprog. If you buy the latest version it support thousands of different airbag modules. Very user friendly with pictures and instructions on how to connect to pcb/connector.

As above, buy all adapters that come with the programmer, without you will be able to put it to 100% use, and you can be sure its the one you do not have that you need.

And one more thing. The adapters usually are not of the highest quality, so be sure to pick up some extra ones of the one you use the most. I have seen adapters break after as little as 10 uses. Luckily they are not expensive, specially not when bought in bulk.

Thanks for answers. But I want to ask you if there is there big difference (I assume there is) between original and AliExpress tools. For example this Carprog original is 1000+ euros and on AliExpress 50$?? Same goes for Orange5 it's about 150$ there, 5 times cheaper. I know there has to be some difference in quality but is it really worth the price, I mean is it 5 times better?

I can speak for the carprog original: Full version allows for updates and support. If something goes wrong they will help you. The unoriginal version is not up to date (this might not be important if you only work on older cars)

I mostly work on cars up to 2012, mostly 2000-2008, maybe I could go for 50$ version. That and a TL866 may be a good combo. Later I could upgrade to more expensive tools.

Are those AliExpress TL866II's considered original or I need to order from their official website, because I can't find order button or price or anything, it's pretty bad.

    Hello

Are you well conversant with TL866.
What tip is there to read tms370 chips?
The manual says it can, but the software ends at tms27xxxx, 29xxxx, and 28xxx and 87xxx series.
Lastly, what tip is there to write on a protected chip?
    Thanks in advance

If you are planning to expand to this type of business, you should have 3-4 different programmers, carprog, upa, xprog
I personally got tl866 from ebay to read all the 28f400/29f400 etc etc
