Their support advised me to "set rework station at 100C and heat chip for 20-30 sec, as its cooling down it will erase"

You wait for an hour for the software saying "erasing - take between 5 and 40 min", the activity light on the device does not blink, instead its constantly on, which suggests to me that its not even trying to erase, been trying for 16 hours straight, even soldered the eeprom directly to the board, cleaned in alcohol, used 60/40 solder, everything perfectly connected.

Has ANYONE AT ALL had any luck with this? NOT the 160d0wt, this is fully erasable with my CG-100, strangely enough not on the CG-pro though...
oh dear was just about to order they reply I got from there sales was as far as m35160 wt goes it works maybe 80% approx. now I know im gonna get the other 20 percent grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

just a thought and you probably tried it but I noticed on another forum someone said if they tried to erase the chip it failed. but if he adjusted the mileage down , as long as it was above 16km it worked ok . not sure if it does but if you haven't maybe worth just trying to reduce mileage

well recieved mine friday ... installed software. no instructions in english just chinese help file. tried on 4 computers always checking device , device not connected.
assumed it needed a authorisation code so sent cg a email asking.
this morning got a code ...applyed it and the same .
just tried a long shot so connected power supply from r270 to it and bingo accepted ,updated firmware and is working .
until power supply it was dead as a monty python parrot.
tried different usb cables but still wont work without power supply....hmm.
tested on various 35080s worked fine tried on a 16 dow and wont erase properly seems to leave remnants of data in first 2 lines , erase ok with r270 .
waiting for cas to test .

anyone else had a problem with having to power it up ? or did I get the faulty one?

A single transistor, adjacent to the crystal and a capacitor, closest to the crystal on it's other side. Don't cut the trace, just remove that capacitor.

Anyone had success with Renesas V850 chips? Trying to read a 3427 and getting a "DFlash capacity mismatch" error, when the only memory option for that chip is PFlash.
