Hi!
I have a CarProg who is doing well job but can't deal with any eep.
I read many many many posts here and other places too does people changed the IC 74HCT125D to some
sort of 74HCT125M etc. and they managed the problem.
This is really strange to me, cos the letter M has nothing to do with the functionality of the IC.
From some other sources they changed it from HCT to HC or HC to HCT version of IC.
This makes sense cos one is TTL and the other is CMOS compatible IC.
D or M version has nothing to do with the part functionality, it is a marking for SO package.
SO, my question is to experienced technicians here, which type of this IC is in the original version?
In my case, I have HCT125D version, 4 of them.
Is in the original CarProg the HC version?
Thank you.

This carprog can't r/w any eep even if the eep is not in-circuit...

After changing the 4 74HCT125D to 74HC125D the same problem exist.
CarProg can't read the 93xx eep's.
When I try to read the 93C46 or any other type of 93xx eep I get a msg "No chip Detected!" but the relay is clicking.
Any idea what could be the reason for this?
The version of CarProg I use is 10.05.
I have also a lower version 9.31 but the same problem.
Btw. I really don't understand why should an ecu use 5A current on the bench for in-circuit programming?
5A is so much current, what can eat up in a disconnected ecu 5A current on the bench??
For me, if an ecu is using 5A or more when it is powered on on the bench, that ecu hase is in real trouble, or I missing something?
Thanks for any advice.
My best regards.

I use the A4 adapter.
Compared and checked the A4 adapter with the schematic from the manufacturer. Looks good without any problem.

Download a carprog reworked photo and
Check your parts on PCB,
After replace in mine carprog the mentioned chips with branded new, my carprog reads - writes much better the eeproms chips (before can't read many of them) I also replace some capacitors if I remember well...
But always I manage to read a few....
Maybe you have a problem in your hw...

How accurate is the A9 adapter?
I checked my carprog with and the test result passed.
The hardware should be ok following the A9 adapter test result.
But still not working with 93xx eeps...

You test it only in one eeprom? (93xxx)?
it reads fine the other type of eeproms?
Yes.
I tested other type of eeps and others are r/w prefect.
Also tested with several 93xx.
Some time I can read lets say 93C46 as 93C56 but most of time "No chip detected"....
Completely unstable on use for 93xx.

Is there any way to reflash the firmware with a counterless fw or similar?

it written many pages with this question....
