Default FEDM/BDC all keys lost - ISN through OBD?

    Hey,
If I understand correctly, the most common procedure is using VVDI 2, and as follows:
-remove FEM module, extract the file
-remove ECU, extract the ISN code
-using the ISN and the file from FEM, create new keys

I stumbled upon this thing from Simon Touch https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_c...&v=f-8NawDFuR8 , which apparently reads ISN through OBD2, thus saving quite a bit of work in the process (no need to remove the ECU and so on). Is this legit, or am I missing something?

As far as I know, if all your keys are lost the only way to make a key is to remove FEM/BDC. An adapter is also needed.
