Default Recommendations on clearing crash data from VW Polo 2007

    Hi Guys,

VW Polo 2007 1.4 Petrol (3 Door) Side airbag went off with no warning!

I understand after doing some searching on here there are programs to clear the crash data from Airbag modules but is it possible on something as new as a 2007 VW? If so what is the procedure? and what what software would you recommend to do it?

I assume it can not all be done via diagnostics and you would have to use an eeprom programmer to write the info back to the chip?

Thanks in advance & Merry Christmas.

    PS: I have a VAG-COM 409 cable (not can-bus) if that's any help?

    Hi

    Make a better re-search.
That VAG-COM is to old for that.

It depends on how much money you want 2 spend, it can be done via diagnostic, try vag k+ commander 1.4
    your best and cheap option

let me knw how you get on

if you can get the part number for the airbag controller (any diagnostics soft shud do) ecu number sometimes it is known as, then i can giv you better info on how 2 fix, im sure your version of vag com can be used 2 do this as i think the polo in that year is still under k-line.(the diagnostics that is, not clear the data)

The word on the street is the airbag module will tell you why it set the airbag off, the word also states this has to have the module removed and sent to the maker, this will be an intreasting exersise to dertimine why the thing triggered.

For example, 100% true story (on and off topic in one)

geezer brought an audi whatever and one day the air bags blow for 'no reason', the car was under warranty so the dealer sent the module back to whence it came and they said it said that the word from the module was in it's own words " the dumb ~~~~ tw*ted something whilst doing a slow speed manouvre, so i decided to have a laugh"

When confrunted with information the owner admitted to twa*ting the kerb doing a 3 point turn, on twhich point warranty void "we have your money, now ~~~~ off"
