In my case I just resolded two marked elements,replace the battery, and got a range of over 20m.

VW Passat key range problem
Hi,i have VW Passat B6 2005y and problem with remote key.
Actualy key work perfect but if so,so close to vehicle half meter or lower.
If possibile something worked(repaired) on same key elektronic PCB or nesessery new remote PCB or what?

Battery is first thing to look when you have problem like that. If battery is below 3v than you need to replace it. And chinese battery dont have long range even when they are new. For me, panasonic is best battery for remotes
