    Same problem on a X5 2013-2017.

    Main Battery 12V clamp + and -

    First:
The person only remove PLUS cable, and experience still same problem.

    Next try:
Then remove also the "MINUS cable, at the same time.
    Together with the PLUS cable.

    Wait 30 seconds. etc.

Battery clamps fitted, to the battery again.

    Car suddenly works with Keyless.
And remote control on the key, start work again.

This car, I think got an empty 12V main battery.
    They charge the battery.
And at the same time, experience the error.

The case was a second car dealer, who called in.
And did this, by phone support.
Which happen worked out, very well.

If you programmed new key bear in mind that one of well know key suppliers sell "CAS4 433MHz" key that aren't suitable for FEM BDC

they know very well that these keys arent suitable for any car but still sell them

Sounds like wrong key to me like Manta surmises.

There are multiple types of 433 & 315 mhz key. If original key board use ACDP or similar to write the other type to the board.

Or try the Autel universal keys, I did one for a CAS4 just last week. Must use the BMW shape ones as they won't generate to the other shapes.
