The BIOS is a part of the disk system that can only be written to by you or someone sitting at your pc as it has to be flashed with a new BIOS version.
It may be possible to do it remotely but it wouldn't be easy to do, so i doubt it would be infected by anything you download.
As for the authenticity of the BIOS you have installed then you need to speak to the company that produced it, i've never heard of a false BIOS on a pc.
BTW flashing the BIOS carries risks if you use the wrong version for your pc. Doing so could render the pc un-bootable so only mess with it if you know what you're doing.

BIOS is completely separated from your hard drive, its stored in EEPROM on motherboard. You can't really find out if your BIOS is authentic or infected, but if you suspect that it is you can easily fix it. First back up data that you may need, then download BIOS flash file from the motherboards manufacturers website, burn it in to a CD. Reboot your PC and enter BIOS, change boot drive to boot from CD, restart PC it will install new BIOS and you will have clean authentic BIOS. After that reinstall operating system and format hard drives.
