Because you are new take a kkl Vagcom from ebay, there cheap, and you can try.
    Hi mattydr67

Yes I am new to this forum but not exactly new to cars as I have been a mechanic for the better part of the last 35 years. although in agriculture for the last 27.

I have looked into FiatECUscan but at the moment this does not seem to cover the ECU fitted to the Fiat Punto MK1 GT (1372 cc Petrol engine) with Bosch Motronic M2.7 MPI system.

I have not looked at the Unidiag yet.

By the way this is my sons pet car which took us 3 years to build.

I drive a 2003 Astra which I use Opcom on.

Cheers for your suggestions so far.

    Default Vag-com 409

Just got my interface. The shareware VAG-COM 409.1 that came with it is working great. Guess it is time to get the registered version.

    Default Opcom

I updated my Chinese clone Opcom with the 090821d from manacao, works great, I had previously tried updating a different version and got the usual relay clicking problem in the Opcom unit, this version sorted it all out. thanks Manacao, Jim

other software for motronic 1.5.5 is:
-scanmaster or vauxcheck for elm327 -> c18ye not supported
-unidiag -> for alfa and fiat motronic 1.5.5
    -www.fiatecuscan.net

in any of these work, probably only dtc reading/erasing would be available

you could try other motronic 1.5.5 similar models to c18ye with opcom

edit: attached unidiag 0.3.3.1 by manocao

Sorry that I said "NEW" it was correct NEWBIE but you'll not be mad about that.
Now I'm not at my laptop and I cannot check if it's so, I mean if your Palio engine can be diagnostic by the AlfaDiag but you ca try it.
    Good luck

too busy to use search and read threads? uhh?

cheapest (only engine pin7 or add switch) = vag-com 409.1 blue cable + mocpo (opcom demo with all measuring blocks)
    best = op-com v2 updated to fw v1.39 interface + 090821d

    info and software
