Now I'm not at my laptop and I cannot check if it's so, I mean if your Palio engine can be diagnostic by the AlfaDiag but you ca try it.
    Good luck
Not mad at all - no offence taken. I realise that over the years cars have become harder and harder to work on as dealers have the monopoly on diagnostic equipment.

It is wonderful that enterprising people are producing after market equipment for diagnostics but I believe that some "dealer technicians" lack the basics in troubleshooting faults and can rely too heavily on an electronic answer.

The machine is only as good as its programmer.

The early Fiat Punto's used a proprietary protocol in the control units which I believe could only be read by the fiat dedicated equipment - Fiat Examiner - a touch screen dedicated device.

I have not been able to find this software and an original Examiner is over my budget, so thats why I was looking for anything that may work with this car.

I will try the other Alfa and Fiat software mentioned when I get the chance and will post if any work.

    Dear friend
I check for you a littel bit and it seems that you haven't choise because only Fiat Examiner coverage your car.
But you can try UNIDIAG and choose def file UniDiagKWP2000.
If it will work you're so lucky. I hope you'll be.

Dear friends because this is an open forum and the laguage is english, please use just english when you post here.
In other language we can talk each other by PM because there is private, here is public.

Atention: google translator is not so good, so it can do a very bad translation if you based on it.

    Thanks for the good wishes.

I will add that the Bosch Motronic M2.7 does have a self diagnostic mode but it is tedious counting flashes and also you have to know what the fault codes are. (which I do)

    Cheers

    Thanks again Matty,

I have already looked at this. the Punto Gt's ECU is not listed as compatable. and this software is very expensive - over 250 GBP - too expensive for one car.

Think I will have to abandon this for now, maybe I will come across a fiat examiner in a few years.
