note: some people report that some interfaces do not connect because of firewall, so disable it when using diagnostics software. it is also recommended to disable internet connection and antivirus. in windows vista is also necessary to have administrator rights and to disable uac.

I tried your solusion yan year ago on an friend Opel Astra 2000.
The interface was VagCom 409 ( I did thats kind multiplexer for my Alfa - I did it to connect to pins 1,3,7,8,9 and 12)
How I said I tried and it conected just on ECU on 7.
AirBAg, ABS dosen't.
If some one tried and it works, let us know, maybe I did a mistake.

remember what software you used? it should be tech2, abcom or opcom demo
i would select pin in switch before ignition on and starting program
i didnt built the interface yet but want to, lets see if i find the switch and try on opel car

I used tech 2 and abcom its pretty same thing.
Yes first time I selected the pin after start the engine.
Someone said that it didn't worked because it is a USB interface and he said that is a serial one it will work. But I didn't tried on a serial one just on usb.
Pins for tech 2 are 3, 7, 8 and 12
How I said I did it for my Alfa Romeo to use it with UNIDIAG and ALFADIAG and then I tried on an Opel Astra 1.7 from 2000 engine Y17DT
