Probably. I've heard and personally have had issues with pogo pins as apposed to soldering. Not as reliable, kinda scary if dealing with a protected mcu.

Edit: need coffee, thought you were talking about ACDP. CGDI BMW is clone of vvdi2 I think. There's lots of discussion about it here.

I have bought one, it is arriving either tomorrow or Monday.

I have an urgent job to complete on quite a hard BMW so I will let you know
Mine is a 2011 with MSD80 ecu (tricore I think) and ISTAP encryption.

I have also tried FVID2018 which is a poor quality VVDI clone, failed and bricked a CAS.

The reviews look quite good for the CGDI, and when you research if you read through that last link darknezz19 posted, you can see one of the developers (Lisa~) is active on these forums too answering questions, and there are recent updates too even in November 2019.

    What car is it for?

it's good as it can do coding and programming and also can do FEM and BDC but need to have the FEM BDC plateform. I have it and VVDI2 but it works just like the said.

What scares me with ZF is the downgrade request when you have a cas3+... never did it. Is cgdi save with this? What about the sync? ZF have this, never tried it.

ive done many downgrade no problems. make sure you have battery connected to proper power when downgrading. no worries because if something happens to cas during downgrade, you can use cgdi to fix cas, tried it by disconnecting cable during downgrade, killed cas, and restored with cgdi. good product
