    Default BMW X3 airlow fault

I have this car with MS45 ecu 3.0 petrol 2005, running very ruff, fault code 'for hot film airflow meter' is stored.

Tried new AF meter and still the same, check live data and ECU thinks '1402' amount of air is coming into engine, unplug AF still same, check wiring from AF to ECU and all good, so is this faulty ECU or am I missing something here?

If ECU, is this a common fault?

    Thanks for any heads up!

cant see how unplugging an O2 sensor would impact on air intake readings?? care to elaborate?

And the reset values thing was something I wanted to hear, but cant see any option for that, on launch, avdi or autel.

    OFF TOPIC:-

hundrads of yeaes ago, had a bmw in for bits and bobs, son of a millionaire
he put a go faster exhaust on it, but the lambarda sensoRS didn’t have a hole in exhaust
pipe so they got cable tied in free air.

since then it was hunting and surging badly

their fathers shop has since gone bust
