Not done that car, get code from 3d....

good luck getting the code , even better luck getting a machine or code software to list the cuts from a code for you .

YM23 pick and decoder , its an 8 cut lock , the ym15 is for the 10 cut lock with different depth and spacing , so you need correct ym23 pick and decoder , you wont get it with ym15

the lishi YM23 picks and decodes this spot on , door boot and ignition , you will only have 7 wafers in the lock , the 8th cut is always a generic number 1 cut a simple key rule , some machines like ninja laser know that position 8 is a generic number 1 cut so only ask you to enter the cuts in positions 1 to 7 and machine adds the generic 8th position on its own.

YM31 is an old alfa romeo key , smart fourtwo is ym23

ym23 keyblank does have a 10 cut version using series HY6001 to HY8130 , but this is a 10 cut key for old models of mercedes that uses very different spacing to smart fourtwo

ym23 lishi 2 minute job with the added bonus of being able to pick and decode door , ignition and boot locks when you hit one working on 2 keys

you cant as the spacing will all be wrong , there is a 10 cut version of ym23 used on mercedes models 1977 to 1985 on ic card 74 and using series HY6001 to HY8130 , this wont work for smart car as uses very different spaceing , smart car is an 8 cut key on different spacing using ic card 1896 and using series MCC0001 to 1000 .

both very different

i suspect you could make your own card if not listed on your machine if your machine supports making your own custom card , or you could cut connected to instacode if your machine supports this , the series codes are no good to you for smart .

if you look a little closer , HY6001 to HY8130 on ic card 74 is not for the 8 cut smart fourtwo , this series is for a much older 10 cut key used on mercedes models 1977 to 1985 , as a 10 cut key it use very different spacing , so you will not cut an accurate key using this series for smart fourtwo . smart fourtwo uses ic card 1896 , using different space info , so of no help on smart .

so having the code still wont help you , just getting the code wont help unless you are working on an old mercedes 1977 to 1985 !

if your instacode lists this as a valid series for smart fourtwo then its incorrect and will lead you wrong , which isnt uncommon as instacode for many years listed smart fourtwo 2006 on as VA2 ABCDEF series on ic card 1049 , fourtwo never used this series , its only recently that they changed this to the correct series.

if wanting to do all keys lost on these old smart fourtwo models then you will need the lishi YM23 8 cut pick and decoder , or remove and strip locks to read cuts , and of course a machine that can cut the 8 cut key using ic card 1896

what a nightmare this was, got the YM23 8 cut lishi, tried boot lock for half hour, no go,, when trying to reach wafer 7 and 8 on tension the pick wouldnt enter these, or get jammed if it did,

if i started with pick on 7 and 8, then tensioned, i could pick them and move back to the rest but couldnt get back to them.

anyway, got airbag out and got in drivers door, started to pick ignition when customer found key in his garage, haha. i took access charge and also made spare key so never happens again.

terrible terrible lock to try and pick, or at least this one was.. luckily i still got full pay on this job.

ignition was picking a bit better i must admit, but didnt get to finish.
