Ford KA 1.2 ECU kit advice

I have a customer who has a KA with issues, like they do. He has bought an ECU kit from eBay and fitted it. The car won't run with this kit fitted - no fault codes apart from 1 proxy config fault. When the original ECU etc. are refitted the car runs. The numbers on the ECU are different (what can you do with people). My question is this: should a IAW5SF8 K2 51868986 ECU work where a IAW5SF9 AC 51903151 was originally. Could it just be a dodgy ECU kit from ebay. Any input welcome.

You have to match the HW nr of the ECU, you need a 5SF9.AC kit
