    How long do coronaviruses persist?

The first section of the new paper focuses on how long coronaviruses can survive on inanimate surfaces, such as tables and door handles.

The authors show that, depending on the material and the conditions, human coronaviruses can remain infectious from 2 hours to 9 days.

At temperatures of around 4°C or 39.2F, certain versions of the coronavirus could remain viable for up to 28 days.

At temperatures of 30–40°C (86–104°F), coronaviruses tended to persist for a shorter time.

At room temperature (21C or 70F), a coronavirus responsible for the common cold (HCoV-229E) persisted significantly longer in 50% humidity than 30% humidity.

    Overall, the authors conclude:

“Human coronaviruses can remain infectious on inanimate surfaces at room temperature for up to 9 days.
At a temperature of 30°C [86°F] or more, the duration of persistence is shorter.
Veterinary coronaviruses have been shown to persist even longer for 28 d[ays].”

When the scientists delved into the literature on the persistence of coronaviruses on different surfaces, the results were variable.
For instance, the MERS virus persisted for 48 hours on a steel surface at 20°C (68°F).
However, on a similar surface and at the same temperature, TGEV survived for up to 28 days.

so if colder than 21c or 70f it can actually last longer than 9 days

    Not likely

But there is a distinct chance these days

This has recently spread like wildfire through
    Japan
    Hong kong
    Iran
    South korea
    Italy

Iran and italy are burning up at a rapid pace
Italy locked down 11 towns 50,000 people under military armed quarantine

Turkey armenia iraq and pakistan closed borders with iran immediately

South korea is doubling CASES EVERY SINGLE DAY

4 out of a family of 6 tested POSITIVE 13 days AFTER. A 14 day quarantine

    27 days!!!

This has a case fatality rate of more than 3%
That is 30 times worse than flu which is only 0.1%

It puts you down harder as well
Serious complication requiring a breathing machine for flu is again only 1%
    This is 20%!!!

Grocery stores in italy are empty already

    Good luck
    Stay safe

more people will die from drugs and drink every day than this
    Uk population about 67 million
maybe 100 has tested positive and maybe a couple of deaths

need to take this into perspective
its still not that bad yet
